Wellston house fire claims lives of pets, destroys family’s home

FAMILY, RIGHT? YEAH. SHANTEL YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING IN THIS HOME IS A TOTAL LOSS ACCORDING TO THAT FAMILY. AND YOU CAN EVEN STILL SEE WHERE THE FIRE IS SMOLDERING BEHIND ME. THE OWNERS ARE DEVASTATED, ESPECIALLY AFTER HAVING TO BURY THEIR FOUR DOGS TODAY. YOU CAN SEE THEM IN THIS PICTURE. THEY WERE ALL KILLED BY THE FIRE, BUT THEY SAY THEY’RE GRATEFUL THAT NONE OF THE REST OF THEIR FAMILY WAS HURT. NOW THEY’RE HOPING TO HELP, TO GET HELP FROM THE COMMUNITY, AND THEIR PLAN IS TO REBUILD. THE WELLSTON FIRE DEPARTMENT TOLD US THEY WERE RESPONDING TO A NEARBY GRASS FIRE, AND EVACUATIONS DID HAPPEN ALONG THE SAME STRETCH OF ROAD THAT THIS HOME WAS ON. NOW SIX PEOPLE LIVED INSIDE, BUT ALL OF THEM WERE THANKFULLY AWAY FROM THE HOUSE WHEN THE FLAMES SPREAD. BUT AS SOON AS THEY GOT HERE AND GOT THE NEWS, THEY WERE DEVASTATED. WATCH THE BIG CLOUD OF SMOKE MY WHOLE WAY HOME. AND WHEN I GOT HERE IT WAS STILL ENGULFED. THE FIREFIGHTERS WERE STILL HERE TRYING TO CONTROL IT FROM GETTING SPREAD OUT ANY FURTHER THAN THE MEMORIES. WE, MY KIDS HAVE BEEN HERE THEIR WHOLE LIFE. THEY GREW UP IN THIS HOUSE. WE’VE BEEN HERE 17 YEARS. THAT’S PROBABLY THE HARDEST THING THAT. WE’LL MISS. THAT. Firefighters were still here trying to control it from getting spread out any further,” said Isaac Lively. “The memories … my kids have been here their whole life; they grew up in this house. We’ve been here 17 years; that’s probably the hardest thing that we’ll miss.”They say they need some help with cleanup and rebuilding.
